Sweepstakes Casino No-Deposit Bonuses: Free Sweeps Coins Explained
How to get Sweeps Coins without buying anything: official mail-in amounts at Modo, High 5, Zula and Sportzino, what free coins are worth, and the catches.
Key takeaways
- At a sweepstakes casino, 'no deposit' means no purchase necessary. The operators' legal argument depends on offering a free way to get Sweeps Coins.
- The one free route fixed in official rules is mail-in entry (AMOE): 5 SC per request at Zula and Sportzino, 3 SC at Modo and High 5.
- Sign-up bonuses also give free coins, set by promotion rather than the rules. On October 4, 2026, Zula's site showed up to 120,000 GC + 10 SC and Sportzino's up to 170,000 GC + 7 SC; Modo's 20,000 GC + 1 SC is reported by comparison sites, not yet confirmed on Modo's own site.
- Free coins still need playthrough, identity checks and enough balance to reach the minimum redemption before they become a prize.
You do not need to buy anything to get Sweeps Coins. Free entry is not a marketing perk: the operators’ case that they run lawful sweepstakes rests on it. This page covers only the free routes and what they are realistically worth. For first-purchase deals, referrals and other promotions, see our guide to sweepstakes casino bonuses.
What “no deposit” means at a sweepstakes casino
Sweepstakes casinos do not take deposits. You buy Gold Coin packages, which can never be redeemed, and receive Sweeps Coins as a free promotional extra. A “no-deposit bonus” is therefore any way to get Sweeps Coins without buying a package.
Under traditional state law, gambling needs a prize, chance and consideration (payment). A sweepstakes keeps the prize and chance but argues there is no consideration, because anyone can enter free with “equal dignity”: the same odds and opportunity as paying players (Klein Moynihan Turco). That free route is called the alternative method of entry, or AMOE. Regulators in New York and Florida reject the argument, and the state legal tracker shows where it no longer applies.
The guaranteed free route: mail-in entry
Mail-in entry is the only free source of Sweeps Coins whose amount is fixed in the official rules. Here is what each operator commits to as of October 4, 2026:
| Operator | SC per request | How the request works |
|---|---|---|
| Zula Casino | 5 SC | Handwritten request with a unique mail code, one per envelope, mailed from the same state as the return address |
| Sportzino | 5 SC | Same Blazesoft-group process as Zula |
| Modo.us | 3 SC | Handwritten Request Card with a 12-digit Envelope Request Code, in a #10 envelope, one per envelope |
| High 5 Casino | 3 SC | Request Card with a Mail-In Code, in a #10 envelope, to High 5’s address in Mahwah, New Jersey |
Mailing addresses and code formats change, so take them from the operator’s current rules rather than a third-party page. Each operator’s rules are linked under “Sources for this page” at the bottom of the page.
Three practical points:
- Handwriting. Modo’s, Zula’s and Sportzino’s rules call for a handwritten request, and the Blazesoft rules (Zula, Sportzino) allow third-party handwriting checks. Check High 5’s current rules for its format.
- One request per envelope. Modo, Zula and Sportzino each accept only one request per envelope.
- Identity checks come before redemption. Zula’s rules say coins from mail-in requests cannot be redeemed until verification is complete.
Other free coins: sign-up, daily and social
Some operators also hand out free Sweeps Coins outside the mail-in route. Their amounts are set by promotion and can change without a rules update, so each figure below carries its date and verification level:
- Zula: its rules list sign-up, phone verification, Facebook connect, referrals and a daily bonus when your balance is below a threshold. The sign-up offer, up to 120,000 GC + 10 SC with no purchase, paid in verification steps, was shown on Zula’s own site on October 4, 2026.
- Sportzino: the same free sources as Zula. Its sign-up offer, up to 170,000 GC + 7 SC with no purchase, was shown on Sportzino’s own promotions page on October 4, 2026 (20,000 GC + 1 SC on registration, the rest after verification); its homepage banner showed 150,000 GC + 6 SC the same day.
- Modo: a sign-up offer of 20,000 GC + 1 SC with no purchase, reported by Covers and Sportsbook Review, not yet confirmed on Modo’s own site. We have not verified a daily login bonus in its official documents.
- High 5: Covers and Sportsbook Review report a free sign-up bonus of 400 GC + 3 SC + 300 Diamonds, not yet confirmed on High 5’s own site; the welcome deal on High 5’s own page is a $9.99 purchase package, so it is not a free route. High 5’s help center describes a much higher sign-up amount that we treat as unverified, and a “Daily Harvest” whose amount is not verified.
None of these offers needs a promo code according to the sources we checked, and we do not publish codes owned by other sites. Sign-up Sweeps Coins face the same playthrough, minimum redemption and identity checks as mail-in coins.
What free Sweeps Coins are worth: a worked example
Free coins become a prize only after three hurdles: playthrough, the minimum redemption and identity verification. Here is how the numbers play out by mail alone.
The 95% average return used below is a hypothetical assumption chosen to make the arithmetic visible. It is not a published figure for any game at Zula, Modo or any other operator, and actual returns vary by game.
Zula: aiming for the 50 SC minimum.
- 10 requests × 5 SC = 50 SC.
- Zula’s rules let the operator set playthrough, with 2x given as an example. At 2x, you must play 100 SC in total before redeeming.
- At the hypothetical 95% return, 100 SC of play would leave you around 45 SC on average, below the 50 SC minimum. You would need a couple more requests, or some luck.
Modo: aiming for the 20 SC gift-card minimum.
- 7 requests × 3 SC = 21 SC.
- At Modo’s 1x minimum playthrough and the same hypothetical 95% return, 21 SC of play leaves about 20 SC on average, right at the threshold. Modo’s rules also allow playthrough of up to 30x, which would make the target far harder.
Add the cost of envelopes, stamps and your time for each request. Results vary widely with each spin; these are averages, not outcomes you can count on.
Caveats before you start
- State eligibility comes first. Free entry is not available where an operator excludes your state. As of October 4, 2026, nine states have statutory bans in force, Oklahoma’s starts November 1, 2026, and several more are excluded by operators. Check the state legal tracker.
- Coins can expire. Zula’s and Sportzino’s rules expire Sweeps Coins 60 days after your last login.
- Age limits apply. Modo and High 5 require 21+ for sweepstakes play; Zula allows 18+ or the age of majority in your state.
- Free play is still gambling-style play. Treat Sweeps Coins as entertainment, not income. If play stops feeling like a choice, see our responsible play page.
