Privacy policy
What data Chance Ledger collects, including analytics, outbound click events, newsletter sign-ups and cookies, how it is used, and how to contact us.
This policy describes how the site is built. It has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer and should be checked by qualified counsel before the site launches publicly.
Chance Ledger is a static publication. You can read every page without creating an account, and we do not sell your personal information. This policy explains the limited data that is collected, and when.
Last updated: October 4, 2026.
What we collect
Analytics (only if enabled)
We may use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand which pages are read and how people find them. GA4 loads only if a GA4 measurement ID has been configured for the site, and then only after the page has finished loading. If no ID is configured, no Google Analytics script loads and nothing is sent to Google. When it runs, it is configured as follows:
- IP anonymization is turned on.
- Google signals are turned off, so GA4 does not link your visits to your Google account for cross-device reporting.
- Ad personalization signals are turned off, so analytics data is not used to personalize ads.
GA4 collects standard technical information, such as pages viewed, approximate location derived from your connection, device and browser type, and the referring site.
When GA4 is enabled, we also send a small set of site events. Each one includes the type of page and the section of the site (prediction markets, sweepstakes casinos or general), plus the details listed here:
| Event | When it fires | Details sent |
|---|---|---|
| outbound_click | You click a link to an operator (a /go/ link) | The brand and where on the page the link was |
| cta_click | You click one of our internal buttons | The button’s label |
| faq_open | You open an FAQ answer | The question, shortened to 100 characters |
| table_sort | You sort a comparison table (reserved for sortable tables) | The column |
| newsletter_signup | You submit the newsletter form | Where on the page the form was, not your email address |
| scroll_depth | You reach 25%, 50%, 75% or 90% of a page | The percentage |
| lp_view | You view one of our landing pages | The page address |
| state_check | You use the state availability checker | The state code you checked and which product (prediction markets or sweepstakes) |
These events do not include your name, email address or anything you type into a form. If GA4 is not enabled, these events stay in your browser’s memory for that page and are not sent anywhere.
Outbound click tracking
When you click a link to an operator, it routes through an address on our site beginning with /go/. If GA4 is enabled, we record that a click happened as the outbound_click event described above, with the brand, where on the page the link was and the type of page. We do not attach personal data to these events. Operators you visit may set their own cookies and collect their own data under their own privacy policies.
Newsletter (only if enabled)
If we offer a newsletter and you sign up, we collect your email address. It is stored by our email service provider and used only to send the newsletter. Every email will include an unsubscribe link. If GA4 is enabled, we record that a sign-up happened as an analytics event, without the email address itself. We do not sell or rent our list.
Emails you send us
If you email us, we keep your message and address to reply and, where relevant, to handle a correction or partnership inquiry.
Server logs
Our hosting provider may automatically process technical request data, such as IP address, browser type and the time of the request, to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse.
Cookies
If analytics is enabled, GA4 sets first-party cookies to distinguish visitors and sessions. We do not use advertising cookies for personalized ads. If we later run display advertising, this policy will be updated before those ads appear, describing any cookies involved and your choices.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site works without them. You can also use Google’s opt-out browser add-on for Google Analytics.
How we use data
We use the data above to:
- Understand which content is useful.
- Fix problems with the site.
- Measure whether outbound links are used.
- Send the newsletter, if you asked for it.
- Reply to your emails.
We do not use it to build advertising profiles of individual readers.
Sharing
We share data only with service providers that help run the site: analytics, hosting and, if enabled, email delivery. They process it on our behalf. We may also disclose information if required by law. We do not sell personal information.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, US state privacy laws may give you rights over your personal information. These can include the right to:
- Know what we hold about you.
- Correct it or delete it.
- Opt out of its sale or use for targeted advertising.
We do not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising. To make a request, email us at the address below. We will respond within the time your state’s law requires. We will not treat you differently for exercising your rights.
Children
This site covers products restricted to adults and is not directed to anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. Material changes, such as enabling advertising, will be described here before they take effect.
